VICTIMS STAND AGAINST FORECLOSURE EVERYWHERE – V.S.A.F.E
Victims Stand Against Foreclosure Everywhere or VSAFE is a grassroots movement founded, (December 13, 2014) by victims of unfair foreclosure, under the leadership of Community Housing and Empowerment Connections Inc. (CHEC) of Newark, Delaware. Many other victims and community leaders throughout the state, serve as founding partners.
CHEC and its partners have been advocating for victims of foreclosure crisis since January 2010, but decided to make if official in 2012 through Communities That Care and now VSAFE.
The purpose of Victims Stand Against Foreclosure Everywhere-VSAFE is to bring awareness across states and the nation about the devastating impact the foreclosure crisis had on Victims, particularly those that reside in black and brown communities. VSAFE provides an opportunity for Victims to unite against unfair lending and foreclosure practices everywhere with hope to eliminate it forever. VSAFE also provides a system to advocate and secure the necessary resources, locally and nationally to provide foreclosure recovery programs designed for and by victims.
VSAFE is comprised of Victims of unfair lending and foreclosure practice who know the problem first hand, therefore know what programs and resources best meet their needs. Members also include community leaders who provide leadership, guidance and other resources to assist with the work of VSAFE.
The current partners of VSAFE include: Community Housing and Empowerment Connections Inc.(CHEC), American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), , National Association of Social Workers-DE Chapter (NASW-DE), Coalition of Black Trade Union (CBTU) and Minority Workforce Development Coalition (MWDC) and others ready to join.
